Chapter 6: The Return

Afterlife and aftercare were built into the design of the Hand Earth Gesture Return public art programme from the outset. With the project making public the full production cycle, it was always the ambition that the materials be reused, recycled or returned to the earth at the programme’s end. A number of the architectural fragments were installed at The Peace Orchard in Coundon Hall Park, Coventry, where the erosion process continued. Other materials started a new life cycle having been donated to local allotments and community groups.
