This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Pangaea Sculptors’ Centre. To mark this milestone, Pangaea invited three local/Midlands artists via open call and three nationally-based artists via invitation, to take part in a micro-residency which saw them collaborate to conceive and produce an experimental, process-based artwork out of recycled, molten aluminium, made in the public realm as an open and accessible event.

This free professional and skills development opportunity was a chance to build new connections and have some creative fun and experimentation. Participants gained skills and training in the foundry process from our experienced team and engaged in a co-design and co-creation process with five other artists. Together we explored themes of collaboration and authorship.

This opportunity especially suited artists interested in experimenting with new processes and techniques, exploring process-based approaches and performativity, and who were interested in developing their metal casting skills.

Via Zoom, three remote collaborative briefing/design development sessions were tun throughout October before the artist group and technical team met in person at Pangaea Coventry for training and preparation activities.
