Alex Etchart

Advisory Board
Alex Etchart is a British-Uruguayan social artist using theatre, music, film and education to amplify queer, decolonial & environmental communities and campaigns across UK/internationally. As a multi-instrumentalist composer raised in the South American folk tradition, Alex mixes folk, jazz, classical and electronica to unearth invisibilised hxstories in collaborative writing workshops. As Co-Director of Sibling Arts CIC they have raised over ÂŁ1.6M for frontline, marginalised women, queer, trans, migrant & disabled artists, from the arts, feminist, LGBTQ+ rights and public health spheres, including over ÂŁ400k in core funding.

Alex has been invited by funders to inform access, grantee-centric objective setting and movement-wide funding priorities. Alex’ holistic, process-oriented, trauma-informed pedagogy innovates collaboration processes that devolve power to constituents over the art, production, representation and meta-narrative. In 2023 a PhD was published on Alex and Siobhán Knox’ methodologies by Dr. Imogen Flower at Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
