Iwona Blazwick

Iwona Blazwick OBE is a British curator, critic, lecturer and former director of London’s Whitechapel Gallery. She has held positions at Tate Modern and the Institute of Contemporary Arts and has curated numerous solo and group exhibitions, commissioning artists from around the world to create new works both within museums and in public spaces in Europe and West Asia.

Blazwick was founding editor of Contemporary Artists Monographs by Phaidon Press the Whitechapel Gallery/ MIT Documents of Contemporary Art series and has published extensively on contemporary artists, modern and contemporary art movements, and the role of art institutions. She serves as an advisor for the GLA’s Fourth Plinth commission and Sculpture in the City, and continues to work as an independent curator internationally.
