Pangaea opens new London sculpture centre in 2026

Supported By

Pangaea is working to create a much-needed centre for sculptural practice in London, housing four stories of fully equipped, accessible and sustainable workshops, studios and education spaces for local, national and international artists, designers, makers and members of the public. Over the last ten years Pangaea has been building towards opening a sculpture centre in London. We have now found our property and this is currently being developed, to open in 2026.

Our new home for sculpture in London will be sited in the new cultural quarter of Wickside, in Hackney Wick, East London. Wickside is a seven-acre canal-side development of around 500 homes, leisure facilities and a cultural hub including Pangaea Sculptors’ centre and a block of affordable artists’ studios managed by V22. The site is being developed by O’Shea’s and will be ready for us to take occupation for the significant fit-out work in Spring 2026.

“In Germany, Switzerland and the United States there is a long history of intelligent workshop design and collective provision, often resulting in new kinds of collaboration and levels of invention that artists working alone seldom achieve.” Richard Wentworth CBE, Artist
