From a physical cardboard maquette and 2d profile templates supplied by the artist, the Pangaea team, using digital design tools, created the technical drawings required for tooling and fabrication of the Corten steel sculpture and base elements. An engineering assessment was also undertaken to ensure its safe installation in the public realm.
Pangaea undertook the metal fabrication of this art work, including its painting and rusting. We created the mould and Jesmonite cast of the ‘rock form’. After supporting the artist to hand paint the finishing touches, we assembled the two sections together and arranged its transportation to site.
Installation by MTEC.
Stone (Butch) was initially part of Sculpture in the City in London before moving to Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
